The EA888 turbo four is a strong, well-known engine, but it has recognised habits. Intake-valve carbon buildup is inherent to direct injection and eventually calls for a walnut-blast cleaning; the PCV valve and the plastic water pump/thermostat housing are common wear items; and some engines use a little oil between changes, so check level and history.
